Flooring types

If you are about to build your own home or whatever structural building that you need to build or redecorate you will be faced with a decision of being able to choose what type of flooring you want. There are a lot of flooring types options to choose from. It mainly depends on what are your likes and interests. There are lots of flooring types that you can choose from. It varies from floor hardwoods, laminate and different types of tiles. There are three common types of flooring. These are:


1) Man made Stone Flooring:

Terrazzo- it is one of the man made flooring which offers deep beauty to the floor. But this is a little more expensive compared to other resilient flooring type. But when it comes to how long it will last, we can consider this one as a good one and it can be less expensive when we view it onto how long it’s going to last.
Unglazed Ceramic (Quarry Tile) - Unglazed ceramic flooring is durable and is easy to maintain. These tiles are usually being used in food service areas since it gives some kind of attraction in the eyes of people. This tile usually comes in red color shades from the mixture of clays fired in a high temperature.
Glazed ceramic - this tile is slip-resistant, scratches, and doesn’t fade. The glazed tile is very much similar to unglazed it’s just that at high temperature, a liquid glass is applied to this tile.
Brick pavers (paving tiles) - This tile is way too similar to from quarry tile. It only differs in size and thickness.
Concrete - this is commonly used in commercial buildings. Concrete tile is usually covered with flooring such as tile or wood.

2) Resilient Flooring

Vinyl Composition tile (VCT) – this is the most popular flooring for commercial application since this tile is cost effective and easy to install.
Vinyl Asbestos Tile (VAT) – this tile is known for its high resistance to heat and durability. This gives floor a nice look after it is being installed to the floors.
Sheet Vinyl – In residential settings, this floor type is not recommended. This is similar to Vinyl Composition tile but this one has greater flexibility which is why limestone content is a little more less than the others.
Linoleum - this tile has a high durability which is why it is also used in commercial flooring. This gives a high and outstanding profile to the floor once this is already installed.

3) Natural stone Flooring

Marble – this is commonly not used for commercial and large flooring areas since marble stains easily and it scratches easily. Marble is created from the combination of calcium carbonate and calcite.
Slate - this tile comes in a smooth, natural and soft texture with various sizes and colors. It has high durability and is a stain resistant tile.
Granite - this is highly used in residential flooring because of it is hard, it resists stains and it doesn’t easily scratch. Granite is made from the combination of feldspar and quartz mixture.

These are just some of the flooring types that you would be able to choose from. But choosing the right floor tile for your floor doesn’t only count with its characteristics but also by its cost. Your flooring choice, if possible, should be pretty high in your priority list since once it is installed it is going to be seen on your floor for a lifetime. Therefore you must choose wisely.
